16 Weeks - Getting Bigger Everyday!

I can’t believe how fast time is flying. This baby is really going to be here before we know it. We ordered the crib mattress this week (of course I waited until they went on sale!) and it should be here tomorrow. We decided to use my dresser I had growing up for the baby. We are going to paint it to match the crib and add trim to the top to make it a changing table also. And by we I mean Caleb :) I’m not supposed to paint while I’m pregnant, how convenient Caleb says. We got new dressers for our bedroom over the weekend so now I’ve just got to get Caleb to work and I’ll probably recruit my Dad for some help so they can knock out all the painting at once (the walls in the nursery, the dresser and finish the door). I’m trying to go later this week to pick out all the fabric so I can have the bedding made for the crib. I couldn’t find anything I absolutely loved and when I had the seamstress price the pieces, it will be just as cheap or cheaper to have those things custom made.

Speaking of all of these baby items, there are so many recalls and safety issues to worry about these days. There was millions of cribs and strollers recalled because of children suffocating with the drop side cribs and fingers being amputated by the hinges on certain strollers. It’s unbelievable, I can’t even imagine what I would do if something like that happened!

I am really enjoying being pregnant now. I feel great finally and have most of my energy back. So I’m gonna keep trying to cross things off my list (okay lists with an s on the end because I have lists everywhere haha) while I can.

Danielle (Sister-in-law) gave me some of her maternity clothes, so today I’m actually wearing maternity britches! So much more comfortable not to have something digging in. Now I can make it awhile longer without needing to go shopping. Needing and wanting to go shopping are two different things though, I did go to Gap Maternity and buy a sweater I just had to have yesterday.

Just one week from today until the ultrasound. I can hardly stand it, I’m so ready for Tuesday to get here. I feel like I should have a feeling one way or the other but I don't. One day I think okay its a girl, the next day nope its a boy. I'm just so excited to be pregnant and having a baby I could care less which we have. Caleb swears he doesn't care one way or the other either. At some point when we were just starting to talk about having kids he thought he would want to have Daddy's little girl, and enjoy how affectionate and loving girls can be. Now its back to he doesn't care, I think he still wants his little sports star too though. I'm left handed so he is hoping for a left handed pitcher haha. I read that you can tell in an ultrasound this early if the baby is left handed or right handed by which thumb they suck. So we will see if we have a thumb sucker yet. But it looks like the majority of people think its going to be a girl. So we will see!

15 Weeks and Counting!

Well my doorbell rang bright and early on Saturday morning. And it was the crib! We were so excited after that there was no going back to bed so we got up and put it together. It felt like Christmas morning. The crib is gorgeous, I absolutely love it. I'll have to try to remember to take a picture and put it up. We are leaning towards doing a gender neutral nursery even though we are going to find out the sex of the baby (2 weeks til our ultrasound) just for the sake of not having to redo it for baby number two! I just can't make up my mind on the bedding I keep going back and forth, but if you ask Caleb he will tell you thats nothing unusual for me to be indecisive.

We had to replace the door to the nursery when we moved in and its never been painted so Caleb put on the first coat of paint while I was at church. So we are starting to get things done! Less than 25 weeks til my due date so we better start prioritizing and checking things off the list.

I didn't want to highlight my hair for the first trimester (just in case!) so I finally got to color it on Sunday! I feel like a new person, my hair hadn't been colored in over 4 months!

And the most exciting news yet is I've had 4 days in a row with no nausea at all! I don't want to jinx it but hopefully it is gone for good. Since I haven't been sick I've been able to work out several days a week. I even made it to a class at the YMCA. Of course there is almost no classes around here for pregnant woman so I was in a class with all the old ladies. I took a yoga class this time but was debating taking water aerobics, its supposed to be great a great exercise if your pregnant. My sister is loving the mental image of me taking water aerobics with the old folks.

Nothing else too exciting this past week but I'll keep you posted!

14 Weeks!

14 weeks and down to zero pants that I can button! I got out the sewing machine and made a few pairs of maternity pants out of my old jeans. So between those and the belly band, we will see how long before I officially have to transition to maternity clothing. I’d love to make it through the winter (or most of it) then buy spring/summer pieces that I can get more wear out of when I’m getting my biggest. My cheap husband (I love you honey!) would like that as well since it would be better on the budget :P

Saturday we did our hospital tour of the maternity ward. Apparently I’m the most prepared Momma-to-be out there because everyone else was about to pop, they could have gone into labor any minute. After we left, I was like oh boy I’m having a baby in 6 months…this is for real…I’ve got things to do. I was ready to start packing my hospital bag or something. So instead of packing my bags 6 months early I ordered a crib instead! It should be here in a few days, I’m so excited to start putting the nursery together.

Well I don’t sleep very well these days (between having to go to the bathroom every couple hours and not being able to get comfortable) so I’m off to bed. Apparently sleeping on your back can cut off oxygen flow to the baby so I’m having to train myself to sleep on my side. Goodnight everyone!

12 Week Belly Picture

Well Caleb is busy doing his P90X workout, so I thought I'd finally upload all my pictures from the last few weeks. Isn't there something wrong with that statement? Caleb is trying to get in shape while I'm getting bigger and rounder!

Well I can only tell a little difference in the pictures but I know I feel the difference. I am quickly running out of pants I can button. I've been rigging the button with a ponytail holder to give me a little extra room. I also got a belly band for Xmas, so secretly I'm wearing my pants unbuttoned and unzipped all day and this neat little thing is holding up my britches! I went to the doctor on the 30th so I have gained 2.5 lbs so far. I was starting to get worried I wasn't gaining at all as sick as I've been. Thankfully the nausea is starting to ease up some.

Ultrasound at 8 Weeks

I guess I'm backtracking a little here until I get up to date! But I thought I'd add our baby's first pictures for everyone to see.
I had to go see the nurse after the ultrasound and she said did you get to see your little peanut? And I said well yeah but I thought it looked like a gummy bear with the little nubs for arms and legs so I think all the nurses got a good laugh, they said after all those years that was the first time they had ever heard it described as a gummy.

10 Week Belly Picture

I had some request to see my belly pictures and because I'm not on facebook anymore, I thought I'd add them on here for everyone to see (*cough *cough Marcella!)

Keep in mind that before I got pregnant I was pretty small and my stomach was relatively flat so to me I can tell I'm getting a little baby bump! I made Caleb take the pictures for me and when I lifted my shirt for the bottom picture he screamed "OMG! Are you pushing your stomach out?" So I had to break the news to him that I was trying my hardest here to suck it in and pretend I'm not expanding!

I've now taken 12 week pictures and I'll take a 14 week picture on Monday so I'll try to get those posted on here asap so everyone can keep up with my progress.
